José Manuel Durão Barroso is a Portuguese politician and law professor. He served as the prime minister of Portugal from 2002 to 2004. Following his tenure as prime minister, Barroso became the president of the European Commission, a position he held from 2004 to 2014.
After leaving the European Commission, Barroso accepted a position as "senior adviser" and "non-executive chairman" of Goldman Sachs International.
