Jonathan Cheng serves as The Wall Street Journal's China bureau chief, a role he has held in Beijing since August 2019. In this position, he oversees a team of two dozen correspondents and researchers located in Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Taipei, Singapore, and New York, with a focus on the Chinese mainland and Taiwan.
Prior to his current role, Cheng was The Wall Street Journal's Korea bureau chief, based in Seoul.
