John Lee Ka-chiu is the fifth and current Chief Executive of Hong Kong, taking office on July 1, 2022. He was the sole candidate approved by the central government of China in the 2022 Hong Kong Chief Executive election, succeeding Carrie Lam. Prior to this, he served as Chief Secretary for Administration from 2021 to 2022 and as Secretary for Security from 2017 to 2021 under the Carrie Lam administration.
