Johan Rockström is a Swedish scientist known for his work on global sustainability issues. He serves as joint director of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) in Germany and is a Professor in Earth System Science at the University of Potsdam. Additionally, he is chief scientist at Conservation International and a Professor in Water Systems and Global Sustainability at Stockholm University.
Rockström pioneered the planetary boundaries framework, first published in 2009.
