Joelle Pineau is the Chief AI Officer at Cohere and a Professor at McGill University, a position she has held since 2004.

Prior to her current role at Cohere, Pineau was the VP AI Research and Global Lead for Fundamental AI Research (FAIR) at Meta from March 2023 to May 2025. Before that, she served as Research Manager and Director at Meta AI from May 2017 to February 2023.
