Joseph Anthony Manchin III, known as Joe Manchin, is an American politician and businessman born on August 24, 1947, in Farmington, West Virginia. He graduated from Farmington High School in 1965 and earned a degree in business administration from West Virginia University in 1970. Before entering politics, Manchin co-founded and served as president of Enersystems, a family-owned and operated coal brokerage company.
