Biography

Jeffrey Edward Gundlach, born October 30, 1959, is an American businessman, investor, and philanthropist. He graduated summa cum laude in math and philosophy from Dartmouth College in 1981 and attended Yale University for a Ph.D.

in mathematics before dropping out. Gundlach was formerly the head of the $9.3 billion TCW Total Return Bond Fund, where his performance placed him in the top 2% of all funds invested in intermediate-term bonds for the 10 years prior to his departure.
