Jean-Philippe Bouchaud, born in Paris in 1962, is a French physicist, investor, and academic. He is the co-founder and chairman of Capital Fund Management (CFM), a prominent quantitative asset management firm. Bouchaud also holds academic appointments as an adjunct professor at École Normale Supérieure and co-director of the CFM-Polytechnique Chair of Econophysics and Complex Systems at Ecole Polytechnique.
