Jean-Jacques Marcel Laffont (1947–2004) was a French economist recognized for his significant contributions to public economics and information economics. He received his PhD in economics from Harvard University in 1975, following studies at the University of Toulouse and ENSAE in Paris. Laffont held professorships at the École Polytechnique (1975–1987), Ecole des hautes études en sciences sociales (1980–2004), and the University of Toulouse I (1991–2001).
