James Cowling is the co-founder and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Convex. In this role, he focuses on designing databases and TypeScript APIs for application development.

Prior to co-founding Convex, Cowling served as a storage designer at Dropbox. He also conducted research as a distributed systems researcher at MIT, where his work contributed to his expertise in databases and complex system architectures.
