James J. Heckman is an American economist and Nobel laureate, serving as the Henry Schultz Distinguished Service Professor in Economics at the University of Chicago. He has been a professor at the University of Chicago since 1973, where he also holds positions as a professor at the college, a professor at the Harris School of Public Policy, and a professor of law at the Law School.
