James Alexander Maynard (born 10 June 1987) is an English mathematician whose work focuses on analytic number theory, particularly the theory of prime numbers.
He holds the position of research professor at Oxford, a role he was appointed to in 2017, and is also a fellow of St John's College, Oxford. Maynard has received significant recognition for his contributions to mathematics, including the Fields Medal in 2022 and the New Horizons in Mathematics Prize in 2023.
