Biography

James Appathurai is a Canadian diplomat and academic, currently holding the position of NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Innovation, Hybrid and Cyber, a role he assumed in September 2021. His career at NATO spans over two decades, having joined the organization in 1998.

Prior to his current role, Appathurai served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy from December 2010 until April 2022.
