Hilary Abell is the Chief of the new Employee Ownership Division at the U.S. Department of Labor, a position she commenced in 2024. In this role, she leads a national initiative focused on promoting employee ownership to foster good jobs, enhance employee participation, and build wealth. Her work reflects more than 20 years of experience in the employee ownership field, including five years as a worker-owner herself.

Prior to her current government role, Abell was involved with Project Equity.
