Biography

Helen Toner is the interim executive director at Georgetown’s Center for Security and Emerging Technology (CSET). In 2024, TIME magazine recognized her among the 100 most influential people in AI. She previously served as a board member of OpenAI.

Toner's career includes advising policymakers on AI policy and strategy. She was appointed director of strategy at CSET in January 2019, and later became the full-time director of strategy and foundational research grants in March 2022.
