Biography

Gita Gopinath is the Gregory and Ania Coffey Professor of Economics at Harvard University, a position she has held since 2025. Prior to this, she served in key leadership roles at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), first as Chief Economist from January 2019 to January 2022, and subsequently as First Deputy Managing Director (FDMD) from January 2022 to August 2025.
