Virginia "Ginni" Rometty is an American business executive known for her nearly 40-year career at IBM, where she served as Chairman, President, and CEO. She became the first woman to head the company when she assumed the CEO role in January 2012, stepping down as CEO on April 1, 2020, and retiring from IBM on December 31, 2020, as executive chairman.
Rometty joined IBM as a systems engineer in 1981, subsequently heading global sales, marketing, and strategy.
