Gideon Rose, born in 1963, is an American academic and expert in foreign policy. He earned a B.A.
in Classics from Yale University in 1985 and a Ph.D. in government from Harvard University in 1994.
His early career included roles as assistant editor of The National Interest and The Public Interest. From 1994 to 1995, Rose served as associate director for Near East and South Asian Affairs on the staff of the National Security Council under the Clinton Administration.
