George Blair-West is a psychiatrist, researcher, and author specializing in trauma and couple therapy. His early research focused on suicide in major depression, leading to scientific publications that revised the then-extant suicide risk from 15% down to 3.5% by proving a sampling bias and reanalyzing data. This work, along with a presentation at the International Association for Suicide Prevention Congress, resulted in his invited lifetime admission to the New York Academy of Sciences in 1998.
