Biography

Gavin Wood is an English computer scientist and a pivotal figure in the development of blockchain technology and Web3. He is a co-founder of Ethereum, where he served as CTO and coded the first functional implementation of the platform, released as "POC-1". Wood also authored the "Yellow Paper," which stands as the first formal specification of any blockchain protocol, and is the inventor of the Solidity language.

In 2014, Wood coined the influential phrase "Web 3.0.
