Biography

Frank Kendall III is an American engineer, lawyer, and executive who served as the 26th United States Secretary of the Air Force from 2021 to 2025. A West Point graduate and former lieutenant colonel in the U.S.

Army Reserve, he has held numerous senior positions within the U.S. Department of Defense.

From 2011 to 2017, he served as the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics in the Obama administration and is a member of the Democratic Party.
