François-Marie Gougeon is the NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Defence Policy and Planning. In this role, he contributes to the strategic direction and implementation of defence policies within the alliance.

Prior to his current position, Gougeon served in significant military leadership capacities. He was the Force Chief of Staff for Un Minusma, a United Nations mission, and also held the role of Chargé de mission at éTat-Major Des ArméEs (Armed Forces General Staff).
