Biography

Fatih Birol is a Turkish economist and energy expert who has served as the Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA) since September 1, 2015. In this role, he has overseen significant modernization efforts, including strengthening the IEA's ties with emerging economies such as India and China.
