Biography

Evan Mawarire is a Zimbabwean pastor and democratic activist, widely recognized for founding the #ThisFlag Citizens Movement. Launched in 2016, this movement mobilized millions of people to peacefully protest injustice, corruption, and poverty under Robert Mugabe’s government in Zimbabwe. For his activism, Mawarire was imprisoned multiple times at Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison, where he faced torture and treason charges.
