Biography

Erik Hurst is an American economist and a distinguished academic. He currently holds the Roman Family Distinguished Service Professorship of Economics and is the John E. Jeuck Faculty Fellow at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

He began his academic career at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business in 1999 as an assistant professor, rising to full professor in 2006. In 2024, he was elected as a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
