Erik Berglof serves as the Chief Economist at the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, a position he has held since 2020. In this role, he is based in Beijing.

Prior to his current appointment, Berglof was a Professor and Director at the Institute of Global Affairs at the London School of Economics and Political Science from February 2015 to September 2020. His academic career also includes a long tenure as a Senior Fellow at The Brookings Institution, spanning from August 2005 to July 2024.
