Eric Schmitt is an American attorney and Republican Party politician currently serving as the junior United States Senator from Missouri since 2023. Prior to his election to the Senate, Schmitt held significant statewide offices, including the 46th State Treasurer of Missouri from 2017 to 2019 and the 43rd Missouri Attorney General from 2019 to 2023.
Schmitt began his political career as an alderman for Glendale, Missouri, from 2005 to 2008.
