Elizabeth (Beth) Barnes is the Founder and CEO of METR, a company established in 2022 that specializes in safety evaluations for frontier models. Her work at METR builds on a foundation of experience in advanced AI research.

Prior to founding METR, Barnes was a Researcher on the Alignment Team at OpenAI from June 2019 to September 2022. She also served as a Research Assistant to the Chief Scientist at DeepMind in 2018.
