Biography

Ephraim "Effi" Defrin is a Brigadier General and the current Israeli army spokesperson, a role he officially assumed on March 27, 2025, succeeding Daniel Hagari. His appointment was made by IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir on March 9, 2025. During the June 2025 Israeli strikes against Iran, Defrin served as the public face of the Spokesperson's Unit.

Defrin's extensive military career spans 33 years in the Israel Defense Forces, from which he retired in August 2024.
