Edward Vladimirovich Frenkel is a Russian-American mathematician and author, currently serving as a professor of mathematics at the University of California, Berkeley. Born on May 2, 1968, in Kolomna, Russia, he initially pursued an interest in quantum physics. He studied higher mathematics privately and later enrolled in the applied mathematics program at Gubkin University of Oil and Gas.
In 1989, he was invited to Harvard University as a visiting scholar, where he subsequently earned his Ph.D.
