Edith Eva Eger, born September 29, 1927, is a Hungarian American licensed clinical psychologist and Holocaust survivor. She is a specialist in the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder. Eger is also an international bestselling author, known for her memoirs *The Choice: Embrace the Possible*, published in 2017, and *The Gift: 12 Lessons to Save Your Life*, published in September 2020.
Born Edith Elefánt in Budapest, Hungary, she was the youngest daughter of Lajos and Ilona Elefánt.
