Basanta Raj Adhikari is a Visiting Professor at the Institute For Disaster Management And Reconstruction, Sichuan University, and serves as President of Disaster Preparedness Network- Nepal (Dpnet-Nepal). He holds a Ph.D. degree in Earth Sciences from the University of Vienna, Austria.

His research interests include disaster risk reduction and management, climate change, hill slope dynamics, tectonic geomorphology, landslides, floods, and earthquakes in mountainous regions.
