Derk Loorbach is the Director of the Dutch Research Institute for Transitions (DRIFT) and a Professor of socio-economic transitions at Erasmus University Rotterdam. He is a leading figure in the development of transition management, a governance model rooted in complex systems’ thinking aimed at facilitating and directing processes of societal change towards sustainability. In 2004, he co-founded DRIFT at Erasmus University Rotterdam with Jan Rotmans, and became its director in 2011.
