Denis Noble is a British physiologist and biologist, currently an Emeritus Professor of Cardiovascular Physiology and co-director of computational physiology at Oxford University. He is recognized as one of the pioneers of systems biology, a field he helped establish. In 1960, Noble developed the first experimentally-based mathematical simulation of the electrical rhythm of the heart, published in Nature, which laid the foundation for modern electrophysiology of the heart.
