David Leonhardt is an American journalist and columnist, currently serving as a Senior Writer at The New York Times since 2020. He authors the daily "The Morning" newsletter and contributes to the paper's Sunday Review section. In 2011, he was awarded a Pulitzer Prize for Commentary for his "graceful penetration of America's complicated economic questions, from the federal budget deficit to health care reform."

Leonhardt joined The New York Times in 1999.
