The Honourable David Layton MBE (1914–2009) was a distinguished British economist and industrial relations specialist. He earned a degree in economics from Trinity College, Cambridge, and served in the Royal Engineers during the Second World War, rising to the rank of lieutenant colonel. In 1946, he was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire.
