David Austin French is an American political commentator, columnist for The New York Times, and a visiting professor of public policy at Lipscomb University. He began his career as an attorney, serving as senior counsel for organizations such as the American Center for Law and Justice and the Alliance Defending Freedom, focusing on religious rights issues. He also served as president of the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE).
