David Henry Ward was an American broadcast journalist with a career spanning over five decades in Houston, Texas. He began his professional journey in radio at KGKB and WACO-FM, later becoming the first full-time reporter at KNUZ radio in Houston in 1963.

In 1966, Ward joined KTRK-TV as a reporter and photographer. He quickly rose through the ranks, being assigned to anchor the 7 a.m. newscast in 1967 and promoted to co-anchor of the weekday 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts in 1968.
