Robert Dennis Blanchflower (1926–1993) was a Northern Ireland footballer, football manager, and journalist. He is most recognized for his tenure as captain of Tottenham Hotspur, leading them to their historic League and FA Cup double in the 1960–61 season, a feat not achieved since 1897. Blanchflower was twice named Footballer of the Year and was ranked as the greatest player in Spurs history by The Times in 2009.
