Costas Synolakis is a Professor at the Viterbi School of Engineering of the University of Southern California. He is a distinguished member of both the US National Academy of Engineering and the Academy of Athens. His scientific work focuses on climate change and extreme events, including extensive research on coastal engineering and tsunami phenomena, having led 35 international tsunami surveys.
Beyond his academic research, Professor Synolakis has held significant leadership roles.
