Biography

Charles Ernest Grassley is an American politician who has represented Iowa in the United States Senate since 1981. A member of the Republican Party, he currently serves as the president pro tempore of the United States Senate, a position he also held from 2019 to 2021. Grassley is recognized as the longest-serving Republican in congressional history and the sixth-longest-serving U.

S. senator in history. He is also noted as the oldest sitting United States senator.
