Christopher Wray is an American attorney who served as the eighth Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) from 2017 to 2025. Nominated by President Donald Trump, he was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on July 30, 2017, and took office on August 2, 2017, for a 10-year term. Wray announced in December 2024 that he would resign as director in January 2025.
Wray began his government career in 1997 as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia.
