Biography

Christopher Van Hollen Jr. is the senior United States Senator from Maryland, a seat he has held since 2017. A member of the Democratic Party, he was reelected in 2022 with nearly 66% of the vote.

Prior to his Senate service, Van Hollen served as the U.S. Representative for Maryland's 8th congressional district from 2003 to 2017 and as a Maryland state senator from 1995 to 2003.

He is set to become Maryland's senior senator in 2025 and the dean of Maryland's congressional delegation in 2027.
