Chris Murphy is an American lawyer, author, and politician who has served as the junior United States Senator from Connecticut since 2013. A member of the Democratic Party, he was first elected to the U.S.

Senate in 2012, defeating Republican nominee Linda McMahon. He was reelected in 2018 and 2024. At 39 years old, he was the youngest senator in the 113th Congress.
