Brandon Johnson is the 57th Mayor of the City of Chicago, having been sworn into office on May 15, 2023. A member of the Democratic Party, he successfully ran for mayor in 2023, defeating Paul Vallas in a runoff election after unseating incumbent mayor Lori Lightfoot in the first round.
Prior to his mayoral tenure, Johnson served on the Cook County Board of Commissioners from 2018 to 2023, representing the 1st district, which covers parts of Chicago's West Side and Cook County's West Suburbs.
