Cecilia Elena Rouse is an American economist who serves as the President of the Brookings Institution, a position she assumed in January 2024. Previously, she held a significant role in the U.S.
government as the 30th Chair of the Council of Economic Advisers from 2021 to 2023, making her the first Black American to hold this position. She was nominated by President Joe Biden in November 2020 and confirmed by the Senate in March 2021.
