Carne Ross is a former senior British diplomat who resigned from the UK Foreign Office in 2004 after 15 years of service. His resignation followed his secret testimony to the first official inquiry into the 2003 Iraq War, where he had served as Britain's Iraq expert at the UN from 1997-2002. His evidence later became public under parliamentary privilege in 2007, leading to calls for a full public inquiry into the Iraq War, and he subsequently testified publicly to the Chilcot Iraq Inquiry.
