I was born and raised in the Deep South, and I’ve spent my life fighting for justice, equity, and opportunity—especially for those who’ve been overlooked or left behind. When it was time to fight or flee, I chose to fight—and I’ve never stopped. As a judge, I saw firsthand how our legal and political systems too often fail the very people they’re meant to serve. That’s why I created programs like Do Better ASAP to give first-time offenders a second chance and a real path forward.
