Carlos A. Nobre is an Earth System scientist from Brazil, holding a PhD in Meteorology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). His career began in 1976 at the National Institute for Amazonian Research (INPA) and he spent over 30 years as a researcher with Brazil's National Institute for Space Research (INPE), where he helped establish and directed the CPTEC-INPE weather and climate forecasting research center.
