Biography

Calvin Bailey MBE MP is a British Labour Party politician who has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Leyton and Wanstead since his election on July 5, 2024. Born in Zambia in 1977, Bailey grew up in Plumstead, London, where his commitment to social justice was shaped by personal experiences, including the murder of his family friend Stephen Lawrence in 1995. He has stated that he illegally carried a knife in the aftermath of the murder, a fact he is now "very embarrassed to say.
